Classic tunes by The Beatles, Willie Nelson and Prince are among those that have been nominated to be placed into the 2011 Grammy Hall of Fame.
Every year, the Recording Academy's trustees select a collection of songs considered to be of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old.
The Beatles' Penny Lane (1967) and Prince's Purple Rain (1984) will be entered alongside Otis Redding (I've Been Loving You Too Long, 1965) and Ray Charles (Genius + Jazz Soul, 1961), while Nelson's On The Road Again (1980) will represent the country genre with Hank Williams' Lovesick Blues (1949).
The organisation has now honoured a total of 881 titles since it was established in 1973.
