JACK WHITE, former frontman of US rock band The White Stripes, has been made the Ambassador of his native home Nashville Tennessee

  The Seven Nation Army singer, was honoured to receive the prestigious title, after his hard work promoting the city with his music.

  Nashville Mayor Karl Dean named him the recipient of the first-ever Music City Ambassador Award on Saturday night, telling the star, "Today's award recognises an individual who carries Nashville's diverse musical message worldwide.

  "Jack White's individual talent and unique creative spirit bridges gaps between genres and generations and I couldn't be more pleased to thank him for his work on behalf of the music industry and its hometown."

  Jackfirst started writing his own music when he was 15 years old and in 1997, he and his then wife Meg White formed the White Stripes. The duo had on many occasions, expressed their love for the Tennesee city which Jack currently resides in.

After the pair divorced, they still continued to make music together and Jack has since gone on to marry model Karen Elson, and have two children.
 
  After the band split earlier this year White has been able to put more time into his Third Man Records company based in Nashville where the couple currently live.

Jack has explored many parts of the performing industry, even appearing in Walk Hard in 2007 and shine a light in 2008. As well as writing many of The White Stripes songs, he has also produced many of their albums even lending his talents to other rock bands such as The Raconteurs and The Black Belles.

  A delighted White told the ceremony audience, "Every day we're excited to be in a city that truly fosters local music and businesses and new ideas."
