Striking new Liverpool singer/songwriter - 24 year old Jade Gallagher is now turning heads with her compelling voice and haunting tunes. With the release of her debut single 'Don't U Wish' in November - one only has to look at her site to see that Jade has already built up a formidable fan base. In such a short space of time, this gal has certainly served her apprenticeship having played on a variety of major tours including Bryan Adams, Van Morrison, Joan Armatrading, Hanson, Mark Almond, Hanson & the legendary Roger McGuinn, and performing at Guilfest.She has also performed at the launch of Paul McCartney's album 'Chaos and Creation in the Backyard' and has supported Katie Melua, Simon Webbe, Sugarbabes, Westlife and Nate James. As well giving a special performance of Miss You Nights for Sir Cliff.Her acoustically driven songs and distinctive voice have drawn comparisons to artists such as Shawn Colvin and Suzanne Vega.With a Malaysian-Chinese mother and Irish father, Jade was classically trained throughout her teens before opting to concentrate on playing guitar, singing and to try a little writing, something that she found to be more liberating in terms of there not being ‘rules’ to follow.
'I love everything from the classics to r’n’b, but my passion has always been singing whilst playing acoustic guitar says Jade.
The solitude of her mum’s caravan on the outskirts of Liverpool has been very instrumental in Jade focusing in on her music, this was also to be the inspiration for her debut album 'Maybe This' - also due out in November.
Some might say it has an edgy country feel, but what ever the genre each song contains a certain vocal passion that has a unique quality.
Legendary photographer Mick Rock - known for his iconic shots of Blondie, Kate Moss, David Bowie to name a few also discovered Jade when he attended a gig in Manchester Mick saw something in her natural looks and decided to shoot this unknown singer, the results can be seen in the shot used on her new album sleeve.
Suffice it to say, although a relative newcomer to the scene, this gal has certainly packed in a lot of hard work into a short space. It is only a matter of time before we see jade performing on the Brit Awards .
