Rapper JIM JONES is being hauled back into court in New York to be formally charged with driving on a suspended license.

The hip-hop star and former member of The Diplomats didn't enter a plea to the driving offense at his arraignment, which came less than a month after he was pulled over for entering a bus lane in Manhattan on 30 March. He was arrested when cops found his license had been suspended over an unpaid ticket.

This comes only a few weeks after the release of his latest album Capo, which came out on April 5th.

His lawyer Marianne E. Bertuna insists her client believed his license was in good standing, according to the Associated Press.

As he left the court, Jones told reporters, "I'm trying to stay out of this place!"

But Jones, who is free without bail, will have to return to court in June.
