Marina and the Diamonds

Marina and the Diamonds

Marina and the Diamonds have been honoured with second place in the BBC Sound Of 2010, joining The Drums, Hurts and Delphic in the top five.

Whilst the winner will be announced tomorrow, we’re happy to heart that t he half-Welsh, half-Greek singer-songwriter has finally received some recognition for her craft.

Speaking to Digital Spy last month, the 23 year-old has said that she dislikes the label of ‘kooky’ and ‘quirky’ - which everyone seems to be striving for at the moment, saying; "Some people are like, 'Oh my God, it's sooo in fashion to be a kooky girl at the moment!' You know, anyone who thinks slightly differently gets labelled 'kooky' or 'bonkers' and I hate it because it makes me sound like I'm trying to be weird for the sake of it."

To be honest Marina, that’s EXACTLY what we think of people who try to be ‘out there’ so it’s good that you’re saying you’re not one of those wannabe losers!
