Mos Def Facing Lawsuit

Mos Def is facing a lawsuit from concert promoters who allege he cancelled a show just 24 hours before his scheduled slot.
 
The rapper was due to perform at the Kool Haus in Toronto, Canada on 24 February (10), according to papers filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Thursday (26Aug10).
 
But Mos Def, real name Dante Smith, allegedly pulled out of the gig just one day before, despite taking a $12,500 (£8,333) deposit on the condition he would perform.
 
REMG Entertainment bosses claim he failed to return the money and they lost another $45,000 (£30,000) in "lost customers, sales, and goodwill", reports TMZ.com.
 
Bosses at the company are suing for at least $57,500 (£38,000).
