Patti Smith is to make her TV acting debut as a mythology professor on U.S. cop drama Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
The Punk icon will appear on Sunday night's (19Jun11) episode, which revolves around the death of an actor who dies while performing a stunt in a Broadway musical.
The case is loosely based on the problems surrounding much-maligned musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
Smith tells Spinner.com she has Law & Order star Vincent D'Onofrio to thank for helping her on the set.
She says, "He's been taught by the greatest, and he taught me, so I feel like if I had to do it again, I'd be really good. He's such a great actor, such a great director and becoming such a good friend."
