Shania Twain

Shania Twain

Shania Twain, the Canadian country singer, has spoken out about her divorce from producer, Mutt Lange, and the impact it had on her voice.

Twain has admitted to losing her ability to sing after her former husband served her divorce papers and was then discovered to be romancing her best friend the next day.

Her new show which aired Sunday in America is called Why Not? and it follows Twains  journey to get her singing voice back, she said on the show;   "I came to the realisation that I had lost my ability to express myself and my ability to sing. "It physically will not come out of my voice... I couldn't even sing to myself, I couldn't sing in the shower.  "It wasn't one crisis that did it; it's just been a very progressive thing... What if I can never sing again?"

The new show follows Shania as she makes a musical group with her family and friends including her sister Carrie Ann, longtime bandmate Cory Churko, and the one who taught her guitar, her cousin Kenny. Why Not? with Shania Twain is currently airing on Oprah Winfreys OWN Network,  and there are currently no plans to bring it to the UK.

The programme's blurb reads: "In the summer of 2010, Shania started a journey to heal herself, inspire others, and find her voice."
