Splittr is the meeting of minds of Martijn ten Velden and Mark Yardley, two of modern dance music’s biggest production heavyweights. Martijn ten Velden is unquestionably one of the most prolific house producers of recent years. With remixes for artists as diverse as Ms Dynamite, Kylie, Mason and The Rocksteady Crew sitting alongside his now-legendary original productions, Martijn has established himself as one of the leading lights on the international dance music circuit. Meanwhile, Mark Yardley is probably best known as one half of the mighty Stanton Warriors. Responsible for some of the most exciting musical moments of recent years, Mark has lent his deft touch to the biggest-selling compilation of its kind, the award-winning ‘Stanton Sessions’ on XL Recordings, a collaboration with one-time Prince muse Rosie Gaines, and now-classic remixes for, among others, Basement Jaxx, Freeform Five and Busta Rhymes. As Splittr, Mark and Martijn combine their collective skills and tastes to produce a dance/rock hybrid and a very fresh take on electronic music. In fact they started the project to give them the opportunity to split away from any preconceptions people may have of them and any musical restrictions dance music genres can create. It seemed like a perfect name for us says Mark Yardley both of us had talked about going in the studio together for a long time and finally getting round to it, we were both keen to create music which knows no boundaries! We wanted to meld our influences together and split away from what people knew us as. Martijn feels the same way. It’s all about freedom within the creative process!! With both of us being musicians who love picking up a bass, playing keys, playing guitar, getting the saxophone out or indeed Mark finally using his hidden vocal talents - hopefully we can just add to the individual respect we get and open up the journey for the album.

Their first release, ‘All Alone’ (which sees Mark take on vocal duties), has already created an underground buzz, with Pete Tong playing it on almost a weekly basis from the start of the year, regular spot plays on Radio1 and major support coming from the likes of Roger Sanchez and Deep Dish.

Now, with the original mix and new Breaks mix being fully promoted and new remixes scheduled for the track’s full commercial release on Eye Industries in UK, Splittr are set to take their sound worldwide.
