I've been amazed - and I'm sure that Teddy and Jeff have, too - at the quality and how big these stars are. They've come down here to be a part of this. I think the response speaks for itself and the people of Alabama.

Country stars including Brad Paisley and Matinia MCBride took to the stage on Tuesday night (14Jun11) with country/rock band Alabama to raise funds for tornado victims in America.

Severe storms ripped through the southern states of America earlier this year (11), and over 200 people were killed in Alabama alone during an April (11) tornado.

Alabama, which is comprised of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, came together to stage the Bama Rising fundraising gig at Birmingham's BJCC Arena and were joined by several other country stars.

Paisley, McBride and Rodney Atkins all sang at the sold out event, and Owen was delighted with the turnout for the show.

Speaking before the concert, he told CMT.com, "This is not about us. It's about the people. We're very, very humbled that the response has been like it is. I've been amazed - and I'm sure that Teddy and Jeff have, too - at the quality and how big these stars are. They've come down here to be a part of this. I think the response speaks for itself and the people of Alabama."
