Lennon Fans Overwhelm Scottish Village.... Fans of late Beatle John Lennon are thronging to a remote Scottish village after photos of the singer enjoying a holiday there were used in a tourism campaign.Pictures of Lennon holidaying in the village of Durness were added to North Highland Tourism Operators (Nht)'s website on Monday (22Jan07), causing hits to skyrocket from the usual 3,000 a day to over 150,000.Now locals are bracing themselves for an onslaught of fans keen to discover more about their idol's personal life.Durrant Macleod from Nht says, "We are absolutely delighted by the response and hope that many of the web visitors actually come to the north Highlands and see why it inspired and touched John Lennon in such a profound way."Lennon spent each summer between the ages of nine and 14 in Durness, and he returned to the village in 1969 for a holiday with his wife Yoko Ono and his children.
