It has been announced today that a new video game celebrating the songs of The Beatles is to be released.A partnership between Apple Corps, MTV Games and Harmonix was announced today, which will create a Beatles video game.The remaining members of The Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and licensing their songs for the games, which is the first time their music has ever been represented in a video game. McCartney said: The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out.Speaking about the partnership, Ringo Starr said: How wonderful that The Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in. Let the games commence." Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison have also given the project their full blessing.There has been much speculation about the game and it was rumoured that there would be a Beatles version of the popular Rock Band series.
However the game will not be released under the Rock Band banner and will be a standalone game.
Harmonix's Alex Rigopoulos: said "I want to make it clear that this game is not just a Rock Band song expansion pack, it will be a new full-blown custom game title production built from the ground up."
The release date and sale price for the game havent yet been released but MTV say it will be ready for release around the holidays next year.
