Daft Punk

Daft Punk’s return to the charts has instantly been me with massive rewards, as they’ve broken the record for the most Spotify streams in a single day.

Their new single 'Get Lucky' was released on Friday and has since broken the record on the music website in both the UK and the US, deposing Bastille and Macklemore from their thrones.

Featuring both Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, this is the first song to be heard off the French duo's much anticiapted fourth album.

The song was also able to break into the top three of the UK singles charts despite only being on sale for a couple of days. It seems the robots seem to have already found a home for their new brand  of cool, disco sound.

Spotify’s director of label relations Will Hope told the BBC that "There was never any doubt that the first original single from Daft Punk in years was going to be one of the biggest debut singles of 2013

"We expect the album to become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, on Spotify this year," he added.

The track has been going down a storm live too, with Pharrell singing the song three times during his set in New York at the HTC One launch party on Friday to rapturous applause.

Random Access Memories will be available on May 20th and will be the first totally original Daft Punk album in eight years.
