Sir Elton John thinks Lady Gaga needs to tone it down.

The 'Tiny Dancer' hitmaker is worried his close friend has let fame go to her head and thinks she has become too wrapped up in her image.

He explained to The Australian newspaper: "Once you have people around you who don't question you, you're in a dangerous place. When you get famous you get complacent, you stop listening to new things.

"My album's sound reflects the fact that all the things I love at the moment are stripped down. It's the kind of direction Gaga should be going in."

Elton - who has sons Zach and Elijah with his partner David Furnish - claims Gaga is so wrapped up in her creative vision and Haus of Gaga creative team, she has been shunning the advice of family and friends.

The 66-year-old singer added: "With Gaga, who I love, she's godmother to our children, I'd like to be able to talk to her right now but I can't get through to her.

"And there are times when you have to listen. When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place."

Elton also touched upon star-of-the-moment Miley Cyrus and her attention-seeking antics, which include Twerking up against Robin Thicke at the MTV Music Video Awards (VMAs) last month as they performed together.

He added: "I look at Miley Cyrus and I see a meltdown waiting to happen. And she's so young! But she's got two records in the top 20, so who is going to stop her?"
