Jack White has unveiled a brand new virtual reality app, which promises fans a 360 degree chance to experience his live shows via Android phones.

Boasting "immersive 360 degree, stereoscopic 3D" and Dolby's Atmos surround sound mixed sound, the White Stripes star is hoping to impress with this latest offering.

So far his performances of Freedom At 21 and Ball And Biscuit in Boston, as well as the Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground performance in Colorado are available to view via the software.

Users of the service need a 5" or 6" Android phone and a Google Cardboard virtual reality viewer.

Fans who don't have the virtual reality viewer are able to watch the videos in 2D, or they can alternatively visit Jack's website which provides a link to ways in which they can make their own headsets, using everyday household items including pizza boxes.

Celebrating his new innovation, Jack's Third Man Records store in Tennessee began giving away limited edition Third Man Google Cardboard headsets to the first 75 who purchased the ultra version of the 'Lazaretto' album on December 10.
