Kasabian thinks that rock bands could disappear because new acts in the industry don't work hard enough.

Frontman Tom Meighan made the comments during the launch of last night's NME Awards 2015 event, adding he believes his own band is responsible for youngsters getting into performing music.

"We're a band that are getting kids back into playing guitars." said the singer.

"I love what Johnny Marr said -- you want to be 18 and f**king fearless. That's what we were. We were 18 when we started. We were fearless."

Despite praising his Glastonbury-headlining band, he criticised others on the performing circuit for not being pro-active enough in achieving their dreams.

Speaking to the Evening Standard newspaper he explained: "I think in rock 'n' roll there will always be a band that breaks through.

"Bands form now, put some music out and expect it to happen. We got on a tour bus and just toured. We were kids. But look where we are now."

The multi-NME Award winners also performed at the launch event in London, to declare voting was open.

Each of the many titles are now open for voting to the public.

The NME Awards 2015 in association with Austin, Texas, will take place at London's O2 Academy Brixton on February 18 2015.
