The 'Open Cage' singer had a chance encounter with the Oscar-winning actor and after they hit it off thanks to a lively discussion about movie scores, she played her music to the 'Top Gun: Maverick' star and, suitably impressed, he introduced her to some of his wider network and she's now excited about a major career opportunity that he's brought her way.

She told BANG Showbiz: "I’ve always loved film scores and I’m a big fan of Tom Cruise and his movies, so when a chance opportunity came for me to chat to him, I took it.

" It was amazing to talk to him about music, film scores and the 'Mission: Impossible' composer, who he then put me in touch with.

"This has led to me having an exciting opportunity to sing vocals on a theme tune for a TV series coming out soon."

Ladybyrd has always been a huge fan of Tom.

She said: "I am a big fan, so I saw the opportunity and took it, and it was amazing to speak to him!"

Asked her favourite of his films, she added: "Difficult choice, but it would probably have to be ’The Firm’."

When it comes to movie scores, the 'Way Back Home' singer is a particular fan of Hans Zimmer.

She said: "There are so many [of his scores]. But I think the one I’ve been most drawn to is his famous piece ‘Time’ from Inception. It’s the one that never fails to give me goosebumps. It builds up masterfully, and I love to play it on the piano whilst having it play on speakers in the background!

The 'Sub Zero' singer also teased what fans can expect from her upcoming debut album.

She said: "My debut album is an intimate journey through the complexities of growth, heartache, and restless nights of insomnia! Each track narrates a distinct story or captures a fragment of a broader one, all within a cinematic pop soundscape that I hope will engage listeners on a deeply personal level."

Ladybyrd's new single, 'Open Cage', is out now ahead of the release of her debut album.
