The 'Master Hunter' hitmaker has revealed she took some time away from the music industry as she felt she "had no identity" and was "socially bankrupt".

She said: "I had no identity. It was really, really, really difficult. I was socially bankrupt. [It was a] very null time. I didn't feel like I had a gender in a weird way - I'd lost a lot of weight so I didn't really have any feminine features. I looked like a young boy. It was quite a good experience of being a non-sexual presence in the world, like a eunuch."

However, it didn't quite work out how she had planned as Laura admits she wasn't a very good yoga instructor.

She added: "You need to know a lot more than I know to do it well."

Now Laura is back with a new album, 'Semper Femina', her first in nearly two years, which she says was her "needing to love herself".

She told The Guardian newspaper: "I think probably a big part of this album was me needing to love myself, which is a bit cringe to say."

Meanwhile, Laura previously admitted she felt her time away from the music industry was "undignified".

She said: "I had little choice in the matter. It didn't seem to want to happen. It was undignified - that's exactly what it felt like.

"My music and my ability and my confidence in my ability were a huge part of my persona. Because that's such a grounding thing to be confidently doing what you are lucky enough to be good at. And I didn't have that - for the first time ever. It was horrible."
