Brighton based band, Silent Earth TURNED down X Factor winner and number one artist, Leona Lewis.When lead singer, Una Creary, left the group last year, the band frantically started auditioning nationwide for a new talented singer to front their up and coming band Silent Earth.More than 500 hopefuls turned up in a bid to impress the group and become their leading lady, after days of auditions and undertaking a painful process of listening to demos and eliminating the good the bad and ugly, they were finally left with a fantastic, beautiful and extremely talented singer Miss Leona Lewis.Leona had everything the guys were looking for, the only thing left was to see if she could sing Silent Earths soulful, heartfelt songs, she attended a recording session at the coast with her dad and sung an amazing rendition of the bands single Times Have Changed. All was going well and the band thought they had finally found the perfect candidate to front their band, they were all set to tell Leona she had got the gig when Una called the bands Co-producer and writer Dan Karrouze asking for her job back, within a few hours Una was re-instated as the bands lead singer and Leona was rejected, although no-one actually got round to telling Leona she was out! A few months later, Una unexpectedly and shockingly left the band for good but unfortunately it was too late to get Leona back as she was gracing television screens nationwide every week and winning the hearts of millions with her phenomenal voice. Dan Karrouze said One Saturday evening I received a call from band mate Ru Garvey, he was screaming down the phone telling me to turn X Factor on, I couldnt believe my eyes, Leona Lewis was singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow which brought Sharon to tears it was then I realized we had made a terrible terrible mistake. We watched the show every week from then on, it was nail biting stuff as each week another contestant was booted out, until Leona was left in the final! We were, of course really pleased Leona won, but I must admit we were absolutely gutted and couldnt believe how stupid we had been in turning her down! We would like to say that were still looking for a lead singer so if you still want the job Leona, its yours!
The search continues to find the Silent Earth front woman, although Leona will be a very hard act to follow the band are making sure they take extra care not to reject anyone else with The X Factor.
