The Formula 1 ace spends all his time away from the race track in his studio, which he built mainly for ex-girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, and while it started as a hobby Lewis is keen unveil his tracks to the world.

He said: "Music has been a huge passion of mine since I was really young. I started playing guitar when I was 13. In here, I can be me, I can be vulnerable. I can show a side of me that people don't get to see."

"The plan was that it always started as a hobby but it's got to a point now where it's very serious ... If I'm not training, getting ready for the race, I'm here."

The 30-year-old sportsman says his "work ethic" in the studio is on par with when he's racing, but in the studio environment he can be himself.

Speaking to CBS while giving a guided tour of his studio, he said: "I never thought I would have people following me. You know, fans. I want to share it with them, I want to see what they think. My work ethic is exactly the same here as it is on the racetrack. But it's just here I can be me."

Lewis has had a lot of support from popular rappers Tinie Tempah and Miguel who have both praised the racing driving champion's music.

'Not Letting Go' hitmaker, Tinie said: "It's really, really good. It's interesting. I'm curious to see how people will react to it."

And Grammy-nominated Miguel, previously said: "Lewis Hamilton is a very talented musician."
