Paving stones featuring the lyrics of Lostprophets are being removed.
The slabs on Taff Street in Pontypridd, Wales, which were laid last year as part of a regeneration project, are to be taken away after frontman Ian Watkins pleaded guilty to several child sex offences.
Mick Antoniw, who has asked the council to replace the stones, told the South Wales Evening Post newspaper: "My personal view is that it's probably not a good idea to keep something in a public place that now has this connotation.
"I think we should probably replace it discreetly and without a fuss.
"There was a lot of pride in Pontypridd in the band and what has happened has absolutely shocked, horrified and disgusted a lot of people.
"No-one has actually raised this as an issue with me but I think it's one of those things that if it's felt that it is offensive then I think the council would need to give some careful thought to removing it."
Rhondda Cynon Taf council have confirmed the lyrics written by Ian will be removed as soon as possible.
The 35-year-old musician admitted to attempting to rape a fan's 11-month-old baby son and 10 other child sex offences last month and will be sentenced for his crimes on Wednesday (18.12.13).
The remaining members of the now-disbanded group - consisting of Lee Gaze, Mike Lewis, Stuart Richardson, Luke Johnson and Jamie Oliver - released a statement in which they said they are disgusted by Ian's actions and their "hearts go out" to those affected.
