New Elvis Presley album announced

Sony Music have today (September 8) revealed that they're gearing up for the release of a new Elvis Presley record.

Titled 'The Wonder Of You: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra', the LP will be officially released on October 14 as the follow-up to last year's 'If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra'.

Having topped charts in the UK and across the world, selling over 1.5 million copies, the former album was a huge success and one that Sony Music will be hoping to replicate.

Focusing on the artist's unmistakable voice, a variety of musical styles will be covered and explored including gospel, rock, country and ballads, featuring a new version of 'A Big Hunk O' Love' alongside other major classics.

CD, 150g gatefold 2LP and digital formats of the record will be available, with a deluxe version also scheduled for release on December 2, which will include a CD with two additional tracks, two 150g gatefold LPs, a poster and a 12-page booklet, all housed in a 12"x12" lift off box.

Priscilla Presley, executive producer of the record says: "Elvis always loved the great, operatic vocalists. We often talked about his interest in recording material that allowed him to perform in that space. It's exciting to hear him on these recordings, performing with the world-class Royal Philharmonic Orchestra via the magic of Abbey Road Studios. He would have loved these performances and I'm very happy that we were able to make this dream come true for Elvis and his fans."

Producer Nick Patrick worked on the record with Don Reedman, and says: "As with the first time we stepped into this amazing world - it is the extraordinary intimacy of Elvis's vocal performances that is truly breathtaking.

"The exquisite and effortless way he takes us on an emotional journey with him through delicate sensitivity to power and grace all within a magical three-minute song. It's a wonderful, wonderful privilege for which we are truly grateful."

Reedman adds: "I believe we have made an album that is uplifting, sensitive, heart touching and fun - the way that Elvis was and still is to so many of us. His spirit has never left the building!"

Following the album release, a major UK arena event titled Elvis In Concert with The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will kcik off on November 17, featuring a special appearance from Priscilla Presley herself.

Fans who go to the tour will be able to see Elvis live on screen accompanied by the orchestra, performing renditions from 'If I Can Dream' and 'The Wonder Of You'.
