President-elect Donald Trump is looking for people to perform at his inauguration later this month, and it looks as if former X Factor contestant and singer Rebecca Ferguson is the latest person to receive an invite.

Speaking to her fans, Rebecca says that she has been invited to perform at the event, and she says she’ll even “graciously accept”, but only if the President-elect and his team will allow her to sing Billie Holiday’s song, ‘Strange Fruit’.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “[I will accept] If you allow me to sing “strange fruit” a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial. A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world, then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington.”

There’s no word yet on whether or not Trump will allow Ferguson to perform the track at his inauguration. You can check out ‘Strange Fruit’ and its stirring lyrics below:

‘Southern trees bear strange fruit

Blood on the leaves and blood at the root

Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze

Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the gallant south

The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth

Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh

Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck

For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck

For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop

Here is a strange and bitter crop'
