Robbie Williams won't be singing at this year's Australian Football League Grand Final after turning down an offer worth $1 million.

The singer was personally asked by AFL boss Gillon McLachlan to sing just three songs as part of the game's entertainment this Saturday, September 27.

According to the Herald Sun, he turned the request down because of his worries surrounding fatigue and the logistics of a performance like that.

Due to perform in Sydney over the weekend as part of his Swing Both Ways tour, he believes he'd struggle to get to Melbourne Cricket Ground and back again for his own gigs.

Tom Jones and Ed Sheeran are to take Robbie's place on the bill.

The pair appeared today at the grounds to run a full dress rehearsal and even have a go at Australian rules football.

Ed received a Sherrin football, changed so that his surname replaced the logo.

Speaking to News.com.au he said: "When I first saw the ball I said 'Wouldn't it be funny if it said 'Sheeran' instead of Sheerin and I was told they couldn't do it.

"But they did it. It's good. I'm looking forward to seeing my first Aussie Rules game."
