Robert Plant has spoken out about his admiration for musicians who can maintain relationships.

The rocker has three children with his ex-wife Maureen, whom he divorced in 1983, and another child with his former spouse's sister, and admits he's a "whizz-bang" type of guy who makes impulsive career decisions.

He explains: "I've lived on my own so much that I always like to know where everything is on my planet. I do alienate people at times because I can be a bit of a control freak...

"It's a miracle if I can stay with something for a long time because I'm a whizz-bang guy.

"If I had a friend and I'd promised to go somewhere [with them] and I suddenly found I had to go to Morocco to sing, it wouldn't augur well for keeping the relationship going! I admire my friends who have kept things going."

A new solo album has just been released by plant, but he still "peeps" at the idea of not making music forever.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper he said: "I peep at it.

"I don't look it straight in the face. Even with this collection of songs and its beautiful delivery, I hide my face from its glow."
