Sarah Harding

Sarah Harding

Sarah Harding will "set the record straight" with her solo album.

The former Girls Aloud singer is working on her first album under her own name and will use it as a way to express her feelings about the last few turbulent years of her life, which have seen her go through breakups as well as to rehab for alcohol problems.

She said: "I've been writing on the album as well, so I get my say. It takes a lot longer when you do it organically. I've been through quite a lot over the past few years and I have a lot of crap written about me, so it's good to set the record straight with my music. The writing process has been cathartic and it gets my point across."

The as-yet-untitled album has been a long time in the making, and Sarah says it feels weird singing entire songs, as opposed to when she was in Girls Aloud and would only sing a few lines.

She told New! magazine: "I'm not used to singing a whole song on my own, and some of the tracks are vocally quite challenging. I'd like to get it finished by the end of the year. I've really taken my time on it because I'm a perfectionist. I don't want to just bang something out there because the record label told me to."
