Vampire Weekend are ready to headline Glastonbury.
The rockers took to the festival's Pyramid Stage last night (01.07.13) as they played under Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and headliners Mumford and Sons - and front man Ezra Koenig revealed the band feel settled after their third appearance at the event.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "This is our third Glastonbury. The scope is quite incredible.
"We're at an interesting place now. Certainly our profile has changed since our first album when we would play early slots sometimes in the morning.
"Now we've headlined some festivals and it's a nice feeling."
It also seemed surreal for the 'A-Punk' quartet and Ezra admitted he'd "never dreamt" they'd be sharing a stage with The Rolling Stones, who headline the previous day.
He said: "I never dreamt we'd be on the same bill as the Stones. I'm a fan and even later in life I've become more interested in their albums."
The band - who joined festival closers Mumford and Sons for their rendition of 'A Little Help From My Friends' - are already "daydreaming" about their fourth album - the follow-up to 'Modern Vampires of the City', which was released in May.
Ezra admitted any group's third record is a big hurdle but explained it can help solidify an act's longevity.
He added: "The third album is really important, because you can't coast any more, you need to provide quality. It's your chance to prove that you have more to say.
"A third album allows you to shift gears and if the fans stay with you it proves that there's some quality to your music that can transcend time."
