French President Nicolas Sarkozy has had another member added to his political family - as his politician son Jean welcomed his first child into the world.

Sarkozy's wife, singer and model, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, is step-grandmother to the baby boy, as Jean is Sarkozy's youngest son from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli.

Jean Sarkozy, 23 and his wife Jessica became proud parents of a baby boy on Wednesday night.

Bruni, 42, wed the French leader in 2008.
