The Jive Aces

On December 3rd 2012, the UK’s top Jive & Swing band The Jive Aces will release their tribute to the late, great Louis Prima on their new album "King of the Swingers: A Salute to Louis Prima".

Recorded in Hollywood, California, the album features very special guests such as Kenny Ball, Ray Gelato, Toni Elizabeth Prima (daughter of Louis Prima and Keely Smith), The Flirtinis and Hossam Ramzy on percussion.

The album also includes The Jive Aces’ hit version of the classic "Bring Me Sunshine", of which their video now has over 2 million views on YouTube and has won seven film festival awards.

Having become the first ever band to reach the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent, followed by a performance for Her Majesty The Queen as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, The Jive Aces have truly established themselves as the UK's # 1 Jive & Swing band.

Formed in 1992, The Jive Aces are one of the hardest-working bands in show business today, performing over 300 shows a year. Playing swinging Jump Jive music, The Jive Aces are renowned for their high-energy stage show, performing songs made famous by such greats as Bobby Darin, Louis Prima and Sammy Davis Jr., as well as a selection of superb originals.

The band began life in the late ‘80s as the 'Aces of Rhythm', a guitar-based rhythm band, but after adding a horn section to their ranks they decided to change their name. However, as they were about to cut their debut vinyl single they were still a band with no name. The single was sitting on the press when the record label called to see if they had decided on had a name.

'The something Aces', said vocalist & trumpet player Ian Clarkson, before double bassist Ken Smith shouted down the phone, 'Jive! The Jive Aces'. And so The Jive Aces were born.

From their first concert on the 14th January, 1989 in Paris, the Jive Aces were an instant hit. Their wild, high-energy floorshow soon became their trademark and people of all ages came to see the lively band give them what they wanted - pure entertainment.

After the 1992 release of their debut album, 'Jumpin’ with the Aces', the groups’ popularity spread like wildfire throughout Europe and the UK and since that time they haven’t stopped touring.

The Jive Aces have brought the house down at thousands of festivals, theatres, and dance halls throughout the UK, Europe, the U.S. and beyond - 30 countries in all - making hundreds of TV and radio appearances in the process.
