Wyclef Honoured By NAACP For Haiti Help

Wyclef Jean’s tireless fundraising efforts for earthquake-stricken Haiti has earned him a top honour from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The former Fugees star has been one of the key figures leading the relief efforts in his homeland, which was left devastated by a 7.0-magnitude tremor in January.

His charity work has already earned him the Artist of the Year prize from America's prestigious Harvard University in Massachusetts, and now he has been named the recipient of the Vanguard Award for Work in Racial and Social Issues at the upcoming NAACP Image Awards, held in conjunction with Ford Motor Company.

Crystal Worthem, Ford's Multicultural Marketing Manager, says, "Ford Motor Company recognises the bold leadership demonstrated by Wyclef Jean on humanitarian issues.

"He has brought the national spotlight to Haiti and is working to continuously save and transform the lives of the thousands of people who are suffering. We are proud to partner with the NAACP Image Awards in presenting this coveted award."

Jean will be presented with the accolade at the 41st NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles on Friday.

Fabolous Show Ruined By Drunk Promoter

Fabolous’ New York concert on Saturday night came to a sudden halt after an inebriated club promoter jumped on stage and began rapping with the star.

The Trade It All hitmaker was performing at celebrity hotspot Quo when an overzealous fan tried to steal the show. Security guards stopped the performance, removing the unnamed man from the stage and escorting him out of the club.

Fabolous has taken to his Twitter.com page to blast the show-wrecker, referencing Jersey Shore reality TV star Snooki, who was punched in the face in a recent episode.

He writes: "This drunk a** promoter keep f**king wit (sic) me! I'm about 2 Snooki snuff (punch) this white boy!"

Akon Quits Radio Job

Akon has quit his London radio show after just one broadcast.

The Smack That hitmaker recently signed up to host a two-hour programme every Saturday night on Capital FM and his radio debut aired on 13 February, but the timeslot's previous host filled in for the star last week.

Now bosses at the station have confirmed Akon won't be returning. A spokesman for Global Radio, the company which owns Capital FM, tells Guardian Online, "Due to Akon's commitments, including working on a brand new album, we won't be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM for the time being. Our conversations about future shows are ongoing as we explore other opportunities that may work for both of us."

Snoop Dogg Hit With Tax Demand

Snoop Dogg is in trouble with U.S. tax officials again after allegedly failing to hand over half a million dollars in back payments.

The rapper had a tax lien filed against him and his wife earlier this year, which accused them of owing $598,309 (£373,943).

The demand was submitted by Internal Revenue Service (IRS) bosses at the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds on 19 January, reports the Detroit News.

It emerged last April Snoop had fallen foul of California tax officers after allegedly racking up debts of more than $284,000 (£177,500).
