Joshua Radin - Underwater

Joshua Radin - Underwater

Artist: Joshua Radin

Album: Underwater

Label: So Recordings/Silva Screen Records

Rating: 5/5

It has been four years since Joshua Radin released his fantastic album Simple Times - the track I’d Rather Be With You was the song that really put him on the map.

And this week sees him return with his new album Underwater, an album that he penned in Los Angeles in near seclusion.

Just like he did four years ago Radin has produced a stunning record that shows of his great vocal talent as well as his incredibly strong writing skills.

Tomorrow Is Gonna Be Better is the opening track on the album in it a song and it is hopeful and uplifting song about facing difficulties and believing that things will get better as you go along.

As we have come to expect from Radin it is a rather stripped back and acoustic sound and it works really well for him as it shows of his lyrical ability as well as vocal.

Radin never does anything over the top with his vocal but he packs so much feeling and emotion into every single world that everything just feels so personal.

Anywhere Your Love Goes has a more sweeping feel to it as the strings are a fantastic addition and sound so well alongside the guitar and Radin’s beautiful vocal.

Let It Go is a chilled out track where Radin reminisces driving up the coastline in a convertible with a friend

There is perhaps a more mature feel to this album that any other records that Radin has produced in the past as he really has dug deep to deliver a very personal collection of songs.

And while Radin is on song with both his vocal and his lyrics the session musicians who have worked on this album with him really must be applauded as they have enhanced Radin’s sound.

There really isn’t a weak track on this record as title Underwater and Lost At Home are just a couple of the other stand out songs.

Underwater is a classy album from Radin and it has been well worth the four year wait.
