Single Reviews by Ivyrise

When Ivyrise took over Female First HQ for the afternoon they reviewed the following five singles...
Rumer – Am I Forgiven: Great voice, great tune, very easy listening but nothing too life changing. It has a nice little horn section which made Mark smile! “a mixture between Burt Bacherach and an Air Wick advert, in the best possible way.” 3/5
The Joy Formidable – The Big Roar: They have a cool energetic sound, I saw them live in a little venue in Guildford last year and they were pretty good, seems they have got a fair bit bigger recently and I think they deserve it! Good production on the album too. 3/5
Weezer – Memories: Love Weezer’s older stuff and they are still awesome! This song has a really catchy chorus and a nice rocking beat in the verses and a cool synth line that goes with the chorus melody. This is the first track on an album that should have been on my Christmas list. 4/5
JLS – Love You More: We appreciate how massive JLS have got, they’re all great singers and have some great tunes, but this one seems too much like an old school classic piano ballad, for our liking. 2.5/5
B.O.B – I’ll Be in The Sky: Love B.O.B , I think this is his first single that doesn’t heavily feature someone, all his tunes are massively catchy, this isn’t his best, but because it’s B.O.B we’ll give it 4/5.

The Joy Formidable - a great band, full of soul. Looking forward to hearing "The Big Roar".
