NZCA/Lines

Artist: NZCA/Lines
Album: NZCA/Lines
OUT NOW
Rating: 3/5

We may only be in the second month of 2012 but we have already had a handful of unique sounding albums - and this week sees another as NZCA release their debut record.

Lines is one of those albums that brings together a whole host of genres and sounds as there are R&B beats mixed with pop beats, with some synth pop thrown in there as well.

It’s more about the music on this album that the vocals, having said that Lovett’s vocals are smooth as silk.

However the song writing does not as Lovett uses futuristic and sci-fi themes throughout the album as he tells a story with every single track.

NZCA and the label have to be applauded for creating an album that is so different to anything that is out there at the moment.

This is a very measured and precise piece of music making from Michael Lovett and Compass Points is the perfect introduction to the rest of the ten song debut.

And while there is nothing particularly wrong with this album there is not a single song on here that jumps out - it is just missing that one epic track that bring the entire record to life.

NZCS/Lines’ music is ballsy to say the least and you would not get many labels backing this type of music and this type of album.
