Rating: 3.5/5

The MixUps have been enjoying live success since as early as 2009 and now they are back with their new EP, Singles So Far.

From start to finish there is an almost happy go lucky feel to the tracks and they are i incredibly carefree and uplifting.

I defy you not have smile on your face whilst listening to this collection of tracks as The MixUps inject a real sense of fun into the music that they make.

Same Mistake is the opening track and there are some really run riffs throughout that work really well.

The mix up a quick and slow place with second track Double or Quits but it really is one of the best tracks on the album with a really great infusion of guitars in the middle.

Your Side is little repetitive for my liking and it is the least adventurous track on the EP, having said that there is a very catchy chorus.

While all the tracks here are a load of fun there is nothing particular spectacular or standout - there is no one track that has that little bit of something that makes you remember it.

Where You Belong rounds off the EP and there is a real change of sound with this track as the band go down a darker route, which was a little unexpected.

The riffs once again are simply superb and the band really do show off their rock and roll side, this is definitely the path that they should be going down with future recordings.

Singles So Far is a collection of upbeat and fun tracks but The MixUps are still missing that signature sound that sets them apart from other bands in this genre - however it is a fun listen.
