Axl Rose is relieved no one was hurt in a stage collapse which prompted Guns N’ Roses to cancel a concert in San Jose, Costa Rica on Friday.

The Estadio Ricardo Saprissa gig was called off after water damage and the weight of the rock band's huge screen combined to wreck the stage.

The band and promoters are desperately trying to reschedule the concert - and frontman Rose admits he's grateful the problems were detected before the group took the stage.

In a post on Twitter.com, Rose writes, "No word on if there'll be a makeup 4 Costa Rica. Though we'd obviously rather have had a fun show, we're more than thankful the very real n' (and) serious staging problems were discovered b4 hand n' no one was hurt. We're lookin' at gettin' bk (back) 2 a place or 2 in SA (South America) asap."

The band is due to play their next South American concert in Guatemala on Tuesday.
