1. Eat a balanced and healthy diet. The right vitamins and minerals can contribute to the production of healthy sperm and eggs.

2. Taking a 400mcg folic acid supplement every day as soon as you start trying to conceive up until at least 12 weeks of pregnancy will help the early formation of the baby’s nervous system.

3. Cutting back on drinking can positively improve your chances of getting pregnant so use the New Year to prove to yourself that you don’t need to drink. Encourage your partner to also join in as cutting back makes a difference to a man’s fertility too.

4. Get Fit. Pregnancy can put a lot of strain on the body and is tiring but if you have the correct balance of muscular strength and flexibility, you can cope more easily with its demands. Being in good shape can also help you conceive in the first place.

5. Ask for Help. Sometimes, making the changes to your lifestyle that will help get you baby-ready can be tough so always ask for help if you are struggling.
