You spend 47 minutes helping them to complete their homework

A 70-hour work week, no holidays and no pay. This is certainly not the type of job any woman would knowingly apply for, would she?

Well, according to a survey, it's something that most women (relatively all of them) do. Motherhood, is the job that we're talking about.

Researchers have calculated that hard-working mothers would receive a salary of £37,000 if they were paid the going rate for their domestic duties. A salary only some of us can dream of.

An audit of how the typical mother spends her time revealed that she spends more than 10 hours of her day taking care of her family, whether it be cleaning, get the children ready for school and bed and help to keep them busy.

Eighty-three per cent of mothers report having less than an hour of 'me time' everyday.

It's not surprising when they spend over an hour doing the cleaning, then another hour tidying up after the children and another washing dirty clothes.

Then there's 55 minutes to get them ready for school, 53 minutes to get them into bed and 47 minutes dedicated to helping them complete their homework.

The survey was conducted by mobile phone network Three and question 3,000 mothers with at least one child under 16.

Sylvia Chind, from Three, says: "The modern mum is under a huge amount of pressure to give their best in all areas of their lives and their contribution to society often goes unnoticed."

Dont forget then, to print this off and leave it lying round the house with a tips jar beside it. You never know, they may surprise you with the £37,000 you so rightly deserve.
