Prince Edward

Britain's Prince Edward will celebrate his 50th birthday today (10.03.14).

The Earl of Wessex - who is Queen Elizabeth's youngest son - posed for a photograph, which has been released to celebrate the landmark birthday, with his wife the Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn yesterday (09.03.14).

The image - which was taken by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's private wedding photographer, Millie Pilkington - was taken in the dining room of their home in Surrey, which is known as Bagshot Park.

The earl and countess - who were married at St George's Chapel in Windsor on June 19 1999 - will attend two engagements this afternoon in support of their charity, the Wessex Youth Trust.

The couple will visit the Robert Browning Community School in Walworth, south London, to observe the work of youth charity Kidscape, before heading to London's Air Ambulance to see how their funding for paediatric training mannequins has helped to support the charity's work.

They are then expected to join the queen and other senior members of the Royal Family at the Commonwealth Observance Service at Westminster Abbey later today (10.03.14).
