Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Prince Haakon

Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has put several of her clothes up for auction on the internet.

The 40-year-old royal has put 31 designer items, made by the likes of DKNY and YSL, up for sale on Bloppis, the Scandinavian version of auction website eBay, with the proceeds of the sale set to go to environmental charity Milijoagentene.

An introduction to the page reads: "Welcome! Here you will find clothing and accessories donated by HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit. All garments and accessories have been used by Crown Princess, and all proceeds from this Bloppis will be given to charity."

Mette-Marit - who is married to Norway's Prince Haakon - is also hoping her clothes auction will encourage others to help protect the environment.

She said: "Many of our clothes can be reused rather than discarded. Protect the environment in an easy and fun way."

At the time of writing, 18 of the princess' garments have already been sold, and the page has attracted more than 1,600 'likes' from fans on social networking site Facebook.
