A taxi driver was stunned to find herself with Prince George's grandparents as passengers.

Tracy Mitchell was booked to pick up Carole and Michael Middleton from St. Mary's hospital after they had seen the new arrival for the first ever time on Tuesday (23.07.13) and was delighted to drive them home to the Duchess of Cambridge's London residence at Kensington Palace.

She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "They chatted amongst themselves and she spent much of the journey on the phone. She was kind of bewildered by it all.

"When we got to the other end I congratulated them on the arrival.

"It was the most important passenger I've ever had. Our future king's grand-parents - you don't get much more important than that other than real royalty."

Tracy, 49, said she didn't initially realise who the £15 fare from the Lindo Wing at St Mary's hospital in Paddington, West London, was for.

She added: "It didn't dawn on me that it could be anyone to do with [the birth] or Kate's mum and dad,

"I had my hair up and sunglasses on my head and I thought 'Oh my god'

"I said to the press officer: 'I wish I'd have known I was going to get this call today - I'd have done my hair'."

Tracy said other famous she has had in her cab include Lily Allen, Julian Clary and Russell Grant.
