The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George

Britain's Prince George will have an "intimate" family christening.

The three-month-old baby - who is third in line to the throne - looks set to have a low-key baptism on October 23 as reports emerge that key members of the Royal Family have not been invited.

The Daily Mail newspaper claims Prince William's aunts, Princess Anne and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as well as George's great-uncles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, have all been excluded from the guest list.

When probed as to whether Sophie and Anne, both busy with overseas engagements, would be attending, a palace source told the paper: "All I can say is that the christening will be an intimate affair."

Doting parents William and Catherine - née Kate Middleton - have already broken with tradition for the christening's location, opting for the "more personal" Chapel Royal in St James's Palace instead of Buckingham Palace.

The guest list won't be confirmed until closer to the date, but baby George's great-grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip, William's younger brother Prince Harry and his grandparents Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are all expected to be invited.

Catherine' immediate family - her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, sister Pippa and brother James - are also thought to be attending.

George's christening will be performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby.
