Prince Harry

Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry has his initial nailed into the bottom of his shoes.

The 30-year-old royal flaunted his personalised 'H' £1,500 John Lobb lace-ups as he bent down to speak to a number of sick children at the annual WellChild Awards at the Hilton in London last night (22.09.14).

At the reception, the flame-haired hunk was introduced to Maddison Sherwood, who suffers from muscle weakness and relies on a ventilator after being diagnosed with spinal muscular astrophy in 2009.

The youngster, six, gave the prince a home-made card featuring a drawing of him that she'd drawn himself.

However, Harry didn't seem too pleased that Maddison had etched him with bright orange hair.

He joked: "Is that meant to be me?"

He added: "But you have given me orange hair - I don't have orange hair!"

Maddison's mother told the Express newspaper: "We asked him how old he was - we had read that he was 30 but pretended we didn't know. He told me that he was feeling very old.

"He also told Maddison that she was doing wonderfully and that she should carry on and do what she was doing as she had proved everyone wrong so far."

Harry, who lost his mother Princess Diana when he was 12 years old, then went on to talk to Rosie Flory, 15, about grief and how people deal with it differently.

Rosie, whose brother Harry died in 2012 from a brain tumour, said: "We spoke about how grief affects us in different ways and how we cope with it. Obviously he has had experience of losing someone close to him."

The WellChild Awards aim to recognise children and young adults who live with serious illnesses, as well as commemorating their families, nurses and doctors.
