Britain's princesses Beatrice and Eugenie visited Prince Philip in hospital today (14.06.13).

The close sisters arrived at the London Harley Street Clinic in a bid to boost their 92-year-old grandfather's morale as he recovers from the exploratory operation he underwent last week.

Princess Beatrice, 24, and Princess Eugenie, 23, looked beautiful in black and navy dresses as they smiled at photographers and onlookers before going inside to see the Duke of Edinburgh.

The visit comes after their father, Prince Andrew, paid a short 20 minute visit to the elderly royal on Monday (10.06.13). As he left, the prince assured reporters and well-wishers his dad was doing "well".

The Countess of Wessex was also spotted entering the hospital on Tuesday (11.06.13) carrying what appeared to be a cool bag, suggesting she'd bought the royal some food to snack on.

A statement previously released from Buckingham Palace said: "At this early stage, he is progressing satisfactorily."

Philip was admitted to hospital last Thursday (06.06.13) ahead of his scheduled laparotomy, which was carried out under general anaesthetic, on Friday (07.06.13). It is not known why he had the operation - which was scheduled after a routine health check-up discovered something unusual - but the results were due back this week.

He is expected to remain in hospital for another week and then will spend two months at Buckingham Palace recuperating.
