Queen Elizabeth at Ascot

Queen Elizabeth's horse has lost its unbeaten record.

The British royal's filly Estimate had a hat-trick of wins under his belt before the weekend but the equine came unstuck at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, south east England, in front of the watching monarch.

Estimate only managed a seventh place finish in its race on Saturday (19.10.13) after struggling with half a mile to go, despite being the favourite going into the race.

However, the 87-year-old royal may have felt she had something to cheer, alongside her husband Prince Philip and Princess Beatrice, as the trio watched a horse called Royal Diamond romp home to victory.

Several other stars turned out for the race meeting including TV presenting duo Ant and Dec and chat show host Jeremy Kyle and his wife Carla.

But for the queen the day was a far cry from her trip to Ascot in June when she watched on with pride as Estimate won the Gold Cup race, marking the first time a reigning monarch's steed had won the race in 207 years.

Footage of Elizabeth banging her arms on her seat in the Royal Box as she took in Estimate's victory back in June delighted fellow race-goers and were beamed around the world.
