The Duchess of York has cleared out some of her wardrobe space to raise money for the charity by giving the pieces, which include Dolce & Gabbana leopard print heels and a Neri Karra bag, to their online shop on auction site eBay.

A message on the page reads: "BHF Ambassador, The Duchess of York has generous donated personal items to the BHF to help the fight against heart disease (sic)"

At the time of writing, the most expensive piece currently bid for is a Luella Giselle heart print satchel shoulder bag which is up to £116 after 17 bids.

The seller notes read: "Appears to have had little to no use. Some light marks to top of bag - possibly from storage. No obvious marking or damage to outer or inner lining. No original tags are attached. (sic)"

Another big value item is a lot of more than 35 scarves and a pair of Louis Vuitton heels.

The sale ends on December 11 so there is plenty of time for further bidding.

The BHF said: "During her visit to The William Harvey Heart Centre at Queen Mary's Institute, the Duchess supported our annual Bag It Beat It campaign, encouraging the public to donate to our 750 shops nationwide.

"While at the Centre, she also met with BHF researchers to discuss women and heart disease - a cause close to her heart.

"The Duchess' mother suffered from pre-eclampsia which led to the death of her sister, Sophie who was stillborn. It is estimated that globally around 76,000 pregnant women die each year from pre-eclampsia and related hypertensive disorders. (sic)"
