The Crowne Plaza Chester Hotel

The Crowne Plaza Chester Hotel

The Crowne Plaza Chester Hotel is accessible from the main road and very easy to find via sat nav. With secure parking on the top level of the hotel, you can be sure that your car will be safe overnight for the reasonable cost of £7.50.

As you enter the hotel through revolving doors, you are greeted by a large chandelier which is magnificent as you first enter the building- making is reminiscent of years gone by.

At reception we were attended to by Laura Appleby, who offered us a newspaper and evening meal reservation as well as a map as we were looking to go to the Christmas markets and had not stayed in Chester before. She was extremely friendly and professional and showed us to where we needed to go to get to our room.

The room was large with a seating area, dressing table, bed and large screen TV. With a complimentary dose of sleep mist for a more restful night! As it happened we didn’t need it as the room was very quiet and with a small corridor area for the wardrobe and mini bar that separated the bathroom and bedroom, allowed no noise to carry through from the corridor.

The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, body lotion and a shower cap as well as robes and slippers for extra comfort on the stay.

Given my forgetful nature I called down to the reception three times and the staff were very helpful and accommodating each time- making us a dinner reservation at very short notice and providing us with the information we needed for our stay.

The Silks restaurant was very quiet as there was a conference on at the same time we dined- so we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We enjoyed the leek and potato soup and Portobello mushroom with chorizo for our starters. For the mains we had steak and fries and a Mediterranean salad. All of which were well presented and prompt. Our waiter, Jack, was very chatty too- so made us feel right at home.

The most ideal thing about our stay was the 12pm checkout which meant we could have a good rest over the weekend before having to leave. We were also able to leave our car in the car park for the day so we didn’t have to move it once we had checked out, which was a great comfort in a city centre.

The breakfast was available from 7.30 to 11.00am, so again we were not requited to be up at the crack of dawn on a weekend- this was perfect for couples like us looking for a recharge and a getaway.

The breakfast buffet was made of quality ingredients and had a large selection of choice, with waitress service for the tea and coffee.

The hotel itself was of a great central location with a mere 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Chester and 20 minutes from the Christmas markets.

I would strongly urge if you are staying in Chester to walk along the river and take in the sights of the rowers on the water- there is nothing better on a frosty morning. There are some great little cafes along there to if you fancy a rest and something to drink too. There is a wide variety of high street shops up in the town; intermingled with the old architecture and unusual one off businesses, it is a unique place to visit to get in those goodies!

Overall, if you are looking for a shopping weekend or a restful escape with your partner then I would highly recommend the Crowne Plaza Chester Hotel. We didn’t take advantage of the pool but that is a great place to start if you are looking for some exercise that is not too taxing!
