Travel smart with these money-saving tips

Brits holidaying abroad this summer will incur millions of pounds in fees because of a reliance on credit cards and debit cards, despite the fact that using these can add almost £70 in charges to the average family holiday bill.

A recent study by Travelex, where more than 3000 British holiday makers were questioned and 50 of the most popular debit, credit and prepaid holiday money cards were analysed, shows that nearly 80 per cent of us will use a debit or credit card to fund our holiday purchases - even though one in five of us don’t know what charges we may incur.

Here, independent financial journalist, Andrew Hagger, shares valuable advice on how to avoid the confusion and get some clarity, so that you can have a hassle-free holiday and save yourself some money this summer.
