Game of Thrones is back, at 2am Monday morning if you're brave enough to stay up and watch as Sky Atlantic HD simulcasts the premiere episode of the fourth season with America.

If you're into the traditional 9pm slot, it'll be repeated then, so fear not. In celebration of the return of one of the most talked about television series in history, we've decided to take a look at five unlikely, but marvellous choices for the Iron Throne.

1) Brienne of Tarth

She's loyal to a fault and although she was at first someone we all enjoyed having a little chuckle at, she's grown in the hearts of viewers and readers alike and would be an incredible leader if given a chance. When she's set her mind on something she's willing to go to the ends of the earth to achieve just that, and though she's usually acting out on someone else's requests, we'd like to see how she'd adapt to taking control at King's Landing.

2) Jon Snow

Not only is he the bastard of Ned Stark, but he's a member of the Night's Watch and has betrayed his vows on multiple occasions. He's great at escaping death, and with kings "dropping like flies" that's definitely a trait a leader needs to have. We wouldn't mind seeing the handsome knight take a seat on the chair of swords, but there's a slither of a chance all of that power could go to his head...

3) Arya Stark

Arya enjoys killing people, as do a lot of the people who have sat on the throne. However, Arya only kills people who truly deserve it, at least from her point of view. Her moral compass is pretty on point, and let's face it, she has been through a lot. We enjoy Sansa and feel for her as well, but her selfishness wouldn't bide well for the future of the Kingdom, whereas Arya would seem to give balance to the world of Game of Thrones once more.

4) Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion is unfortunately a laughing stock. The people of the land laugh at him as he walks by and he's hard-pressed to find anyone who actually takes him seriously. What everybody seems to fail to notice is that he actually talks the most sense and is probably one of the most intelligent people in the GoT universe, and his rule would probably be the most pleasant one the people of the cities would ever experience - that is of course only if his throne comes with the guarantee of no meddling from other Lannister family members.

5) Ser Jorah Mormont

His love for Daenerys would probably trump that of his love for power or being a leader, but he often speaks a lot of sense, whether the Mother of Dragons wants to hear it or not. He thinks things through before acting on them, and would do anything to protect those who need protecting, and so with a whole Kingdom of people relying on him, we'd hope the pressures wouldn't prove too much and get to him, and he'd surprise even himself with how good of a job he'd be able to do.

Who do you think will eventually end up on the Iron Throne? Let us know in the comments section below.

Game of Thrones season four premieres at 2am, Monday April 7 on Sky Atlantic and Sky Atlantic HD, and will be repeated on the same day at 9pm.
