At the police station, the reunited team discuss what kind of killer they may be dealing with and realise that the unsub (unknown subject) is most likely a ‘Type 4 assassin’.

This kind of killer operates under a mental defect or a delusion – and it is this which must be identified before the unsub can be stopped.

While the agents are discussing their next move, a man enters the office and tells them that his client, Lila Archer, has recieved a threatening note.

Scrawled over a magazine report of Natalie Ryan’s murder, the note reads ‘You owe me’.

Further investigation into Natalie and the two other showbiz-related murders reveals that a psychotic stalker is killing anyone who appears to stand in the way of Lila Archer’s career.

When Lila receives another note, expressing anger that she went to the police, the concerned agents try to convince her to go to a ‘safe house’.

Lila refuses, saying that she wants to live her life as normal, and goes back to work on her TV show.

However, Hotch, Gideon and Elle soon realise that the killer has upped the stakes: Lila’s agent, Michael Ryer, has now been shot dead.

Revealing shots of Lila found in Ryer’s office lead the agents to a paparazzo by the name of Joe Martinez.

Morgan and Kim head over to his studio, where they find countless more photographs of Lila and Natalie – as well as some close-ups of Reid that were taken at the gallery.

Fearing that Reid could be the stalker’s next victim, Morgan calls to warn him – but is shot at by a mystery assailant while he’s on the phone.

Later that night, Reid is at Lila’s going through some security measures with her.

She brushes off his concerns and has a swim, playfully flirting with him and ignoring his protests.

“You’re being pursued by a psychotic killer who shoots people in the head,” he reminds her incredulously.

Hiding in the bushes taking pictures of them is Martinez, who denies being Lila’s stalker – he’s just doing his job, apparently.

After Morgan arrives and hustles Martinez off the premises, Reid is inside staring at a photographic collage that Lila was given some time ago.

He suddenly realises that the collage is made up of old photographs from all periods of Lila’s life, which means that the person who made this collage has been watching Lila for years.

Further investigation into the piece reveals that the stalker is someone close to Lila – both emotionally and physically...
