The second season of #RichKids of Beverly Hills is coming to E! this weekend, and we caught up with its brightest new star EJ Johnson to find out why he joined the series, his passion for fashion and much more in a new and exclusive interview.
EJ JohnsonYou starred in season one of Rich Kids in a guest role, but this time round you're a main cast member - what was it about the show that appealed to you?
I’ve always known that I wanted to do something in entertainment and fashion. After the TMZ video broke last year, I started receiving offers to star in my own reality show. When #RichKids presented itself, I thought it would be a great platform to get my feet wet. I was already friends with the entire cast and felt comfortable with everyone. That made the decision to participate really easy.
Coming out to your parents at 17, you had a very supportive response - what advice do you have for those who are struggling to voice how they feel to their family, or may not get that same support?
It’s important to come out to yourself first and be comfortable with it. After that, I feel it’s important to surround yourself with a group of friends who support you and love you for who you are. My friends are everything to me.
Tell us a little bit about a typical day in the life of EJ Johnson.
No two days are ever the same, but usually I wake up and immediately check out what’s happening online in the fashion world. Doing so, inspires me to create and shape my own fashion trends. I take these fashion trends and then spend some time writing about them on my fashion blog – EJJohnsonStyle.com. Then I’ll call my publicist and discuss upcoming opportunities and have lunch with a friend. After lunch, if I’m not working as a news correspondent covering a fashion event or red carpet, I’ll take a dance class or do a round of shopping with my sister. Then its dinner and time to twerk the night away.
What do you think it is about your personality that's made you such a hit with the show's audiences, and on social media?
I’m just me. Point. Blank. Period.
Has fashion always been a passion of yours?
It’s been a passion of mine ever since I moved to NYC for school. The city is just so rich with inspiration and culture – its very inspiring.
This season of Rich Kids we'll see you striving to build your own fashion empire - how have you found that journey so far?
It’s been a great journey so far. I’ve worked as an E! News correspondent covering New York Fashion Week and have appeared on several fashion shows and online sites. Not to mention, I just recently launched my own fashion blog – EJJohnsonStyle.com
What do you think of your fellow cast members?
They’re all my friends. They’re all great!

Drama?! Do you know who you’re talking to? I’m usually the one putting out the drama. Everyone knows not to come for me.
Do you have a definitive life goal?
To work in entertainment and host my own talk show.
What's the weirdest experience you've had as a celebrity?
I’ll have to get back to you.
